I am a solid-state materials chemist interested in energy materials and quantum materials.
I am currently a Quantum Foundry Postdoc with Professor Ram Seshadri in the Materials Research Laboratory at UC Santa Barbara. I received my PhD from the University of Liverpool in the United Kingdom, supervised by Professor Matthew J Rosseinsky OBE FRS and Professor Laurence Hardwick.
My work aims to connect the chemistry of energy materials with the physics of correlated and quantum systems, revealing new pathways for designing functional materials. I use X-ray and neutron crystallography, pair distribution function analysis, and spectroscopy (NMR, Raman, IR, XAS, XPS) to resolve the structural origins of ionic, electronic, and magnetic behavior in inorganic solids. I am particularly interested in electrochemistry as a synthetic tool: a way to tune composition and electronic structure continuously, and to gain dynamic control over emergent behavior in quantum materials.
Outside the lab I rock climb, swim, surf and ride (or, more often, repair) motorcycles.
